Bavaria Family Restaurant
7457 Elmwood Ave, Middleton, Middleton,
Bavaria Family Restaurant is (as the name suggests) a "family restaurant" with a large enough menu to make just about everyone in your family happy and at an affordable price. They feature a number of specials each day including specials for senior. The menu features a variety of sandwiches as well as standard family fare like porkchops and spaghetti. I highly recommend the gyro sandwich and the greek salad. While it's not a place that you'd mistake for a 4 star restaurant, the food is certainly better than the majority of other family restaurants I've been to and their prices can't be beat. My wife and I used to live just a half mile away and it was cheaper for us to eat at the Bavaria Family Restaurant then it was trying to cook for two, so we'd eat there a couple of times a week. The service was always excellent. Our only complaint was that it lost a bit of it's charm after they renovated about 4 1/2 years ago and added a basement dining room. The food and service are still great, but we liked the older decor. Sandwiches come with both soup and fries, but if you request it they will bring you a bowl of pasta instead of fries.

In a world where it seems EVERY new restaurant has a TV blaring sports, I was hoping for better. The FOOD was very good, there was a lot of it (lots to take home), and we went early enough in the evening to get seated quickly. The waitress was okay, but, seemed preoccupied, and while we like being left alone with our meal, I would say that it wasn't the best service in the world, not the worst either. The manager, or whomever she was, seemed to spend an inordinate amount of time talking to us while we were eating, and gushed about the variety of desserts (which were very good). We would like to go back and try some of the flights of Whiskey, and some other menu choices, but, the biggest disappointment was the fact that right there, over the bar, from where were were sitting was a large television, blaring a basketball game. Do pubs in Ireland all have televisions now? How disappointing that people can no longer go to a pub for a drink (or meal) and NOT be distracted by the constant presence of a television set.
